Frequently Asked Questions . . . . and Answers

Q.      Just what is the “Summit System”?
A.      The Summit Property Inspection System (for convenience, called the “Summit System”) is a complete program, consisting of extensive one-on-one training and unlimited technical support on the use of highly specialized, powerful computer software, supporting documents, printed materials and Internet presence, specifically designed to aid each Member in operating a successful and efficient home inspection business. The comprehensive computer software supports the entire home inspection process, from office administration through client documents to the writing of complete narrative inspection reports, that are recognized among professionals as the best in the business.

Q.      What is a Summit Systems Membership, and how is it different from a franchise?
A.      First of all, the Summit Systems Membership is not a franchise!  A Summit Systems Membership entitles the holder to use the Summit Systems software, supporting documents and printed materials in the conduct of their own individual and unique home inspection business.  The Membership also entitles the holder to extensive one-on-one training and unlimited technical support.

In contrast, a franchise goes beyond the payment of high up-front costs (called an “investment” in a “business opportunity,” in franchise lingo) and continuing royalty payments, to dictating how you will run your business and requiring you to promote a common name (the name of the franchise) rather than allowing you to market your own business.

Experience has shown, time and again, that the home inspection business is highly personality oriented. In other words, those who are the source of the home inspection assignments (real estate agents, attorneys and others connected with the real estate sales process) refer the work based more upon the personality and “bedside manner” of the individual inspector than upon any franchise name. For this reason, in spite of what the franchises may tell you, there are no “household names” in the home inspection business like you may be used to in the fast food business, or even in real estate itself.
